Elliotts Western Rigger® XT Welders Glove – 330mm Long Cuff

Part No: 500XTWR (sizes S–2XL)

The Elliotts Western Rigger® XT is a premium rigger-style leather glove with an extended 330mm cuff. It’s suited to TIG welding, light MIG work, metal handling and rigging, where you need good dexterity as well as protection further up the wrist. It’s made from soft, A-grade cow grain leather with an aramid-stitched palm and a shirred elastic back for a snug fit. It is certified by SAI Global to AS/NZS 2161.3 (EN 388) for mechanical risks, with a performance rating of 3132.

A Rigger Glove with Extra Wrist Protection

The standard Elliotts Western Rigger® has a 250mm cuff. It’s a well-known Australian driver and rigger glove, valued for its consistent leather and generous sizing. The XT keeps the same hand and extends the cuff to 330mm. The longer cuff covers the gap between glove and sleeve, giving extra protection from sparks, spatter and sharp edges, but the glove stays thin enough for fine control of a TIG torch or filler rod. Many welders keep a pair for TIG and fit-up work and switch to a heavier lined gauntlet for high-amperage MIG and stick welding.

Key Features

Premium A-grade cow grain leather: The leather is soft and an even thickness throughout. It gives a good feel for the torch, filler rod and small parts.

Extended 330mm cuff: Covers more of the forearm than a standard rigger glove, with protection from spatter, sparks and sharp edges.

Heat-resistant aramid-stitched palm: The stitching resists heat and abrasion better than standard thread, so the seams last longer.

Shirred elastic back: Keeps the glove snug so it doesn’t slip or bunch while you work.

Generous sizing with colour-coded wrist binding: Sizes run true to a full adult hand, and the coloured binding makes it easy to sort sizes on the shelf or in the crib room.

Durable and abrasion resistant: Built for repeated daily use in workshops, on site and in the yard.

Certification

Certified by SAI Global to AS/NZS 2161.3:2020 (EN 388), which covers occupational protective gloves for protection against mechanical risks.

EN 388 Test Rating Scale
Abrasion resistance 3 0–4
Blade cut resistance 1 0–5

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Western Rigger XT suitable for welding?
Yes, for TIG and light MIG work. The soft grain leather gives the dexterity TIG needs, and the 330mm cuff protects the wrist. For heavy MIG, stick or high-amperage work, choose a lined welding gauntlet such as the Elliotts BIG RED®.

What’s the difference between the Western Rigger and the Western Rigger XT?
They have the same hand and leather. The standard Western Rigger has a 250mm cuff, and the XT extends it to 330mm for more wrist and forearm protection.

What does the EN 388 rating of 3132 mean?
It rates the glove for abrasion (3 out of 4), blade cut (1 out of 5), tear (3 out of 4) and puncture (2 out of 4). These ratings cover mechanical protection only.

Is the glove lined?
No. It’s unlined, which keeps it thin and flexible for good feel.

What sizes are available?
S, M, L, XL and 2XL. Each size has a colour-coded wrist binding.
