KEMPER FILTER MASTER XL
KEMPER FILTERMASTER XL MOBILE FUME EXTRACTOR
Mobile Fume Extraction Unit with Automatic Filter Cleaning — W3 IFA Certified
The Kemper FilterMaster XL is a mobile, trolley-mounted fume extractor built for high fume loads and continuous operation. It sits above the SmartFil and ProfiMaster in the Kemper mobile range and is the unit for workshops that weld all shift, run stainless or high-alloy steel, or need a mobile extractor that doesn't need its filter pulled and cleaned by hand.
At its core is a 10m² KemTex® ePTFE membrane filter cartridge that separates particles below 0.1 µm at greater than 99.9% efficiency, backed by a timed, automatic rotating-nozzle cleaning system that keeps the filter surface clear during operation. The unit is W3 IFA certified, which means it is approved for extraction of fume from chromium-nickel (stainless) steel welding, the most hazardous fume category under Australia's tightened welding fume exposure limits.
The FilterMaster XL is suited to MIG/MAG, stick and laser welding on steel, aluminium and stainless, and rolls to the job on a heavy-duty trolley with a flexible arm available in 2, 3 or 4 metre lengths.

Replacement filter cartridge: Kemper 1090438, 10m² KemTex® ePTFE. Using original Kemper filters keeps the W3 certification and warranty intact.
Optional: protective mesh for extraction hood (Kemper 1272520); 3m or 4m arm in place of the 2m.
Why Choose the FilterMaster XL?
It cleans its own filter. The rotating-nozzle cleaning system runs on a timer during operation, so extraction performance stays consistent through a full shift instead of tapering off as the cartridge loads. No stopping to knock out or swap filters mid-day.
Certified for stainless. W3 IFA certification is the highest class for welding fume filter units and is required for chromium-nickel steel fume. If your workshop welds stainless, this is the certification to look for.
Built for continuous duty. Where the SmartFil and ProfiMaster are rated for regular use, the FilterMaster XL is rated for non-stop operation and high fume volumes, with 3,000 m³/h of fan capacity behind a 1,000 m³/h extraction rate.
Less arm fiddling. The flow-optimised rotating hood holds position and captures more at a given distance, so the welder adjusts the arm less and captures more.
Safe start-up, every time. Rotation field control checks phase sequence at power-up and prevents the fan running backwards on a wrongly wired three-phase outlet, which is a common cause of "it's on but not pulling" on site.
Compliance-ready. With Australia's welding fume workplace exposure limit now at 1 mg/m³ and AS/NZS ISO 21904 the reference standard for extraction equipment, a certified, high-efficiency source-capture unit is the practical way to demonstrate control at the point of generation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Kemper FilterMaster XL suitable for stainless steel welding fume? Yes. The FilterMaster XL is W3 IFA certified, the certification class required for extracting fume from chromium-nickel (stainless) steel, where hexavalent chromium and nickel compounds are the primary hazard.
How does the automatic filter cleaning work? A rotating compressed-air nozzle inside the cartridge cleans the KemTex® ePTFE filter surface on a timed cycle while the unit is running. It needs a 5–6 bar compressed air supply. Cleaned dust falls into a collection tray for disposal.
Does the FilterMaster XL need three-phase power? Yes. It runs on 3 × 400V 50Hz and draws 3.2A. Rotation field control protects against incorrect phase sequence.
What's the difference between extraction capacity and fan performance? Extraction capacity (1,000 m³/h) is the rated airflow at the arm hood in normal use. Max. fan performance (3,000 m³/h) is the fan's capacity with the filter clean and no arm restriction. The margin is what keeps extraction consistent as the filter loads.
What arm lengths are available? 2m is standard, with 3m and 4m options. All are 150mm diameter flexible arms with a rotating extraction hood.
How often does the filter need replacing? With automatic cleaning, the cartridge lasts considerably longer than a manually cleaned filter, but replacement interval depends on fume load and material. Replacement is the Kemper 1090438 10m² cartridge; using the original filter keeps the W3 certification and warranty valid.
Does the FilterMaster XL meet Australian welding fume requirements? It's a W3-certified, >99.9% efficiency source-capture unit, which is the equipment class Australian guidance points to for controlling welding fume at the source under the current exposure limit.
