FRONIUS TPS400I GAS COOLED SWF
FRONIUS TPS 400i
Inverter Power Source with Separate Wire Feeder — Gas Cooled
The Fronius TPS 400i is a fully digitised, microprocessor-controlled inverter power source built for demanding industrial and heavy fabrication environments. Unlike the Compact range, the TPS 400i runs with a separate wire feeder — the WF 25i — giving workshops a modular system that can be configured, positioned and expanded to suit the application, rather than a fixed all-in-one footprint.
This listing is the gas-cooled configuration. A water-cooled version of the TPS 400i is also available, built for higher duty-cycle applications and longer continuous welds where sustained arc time and torch cooling become the limiting factor.
As with all TPS/i base units, the TPS 400i requires a Weld Process to be added before it's ready to weld — MIG Standard Synergic and MIG Pulse Synergic are both available as options depending on the process mix required.

Gas-Cooled & Water-Cooled Options Available
The TPS 400i is available in both gas-cooled and water-cooled configurations. This listing is the gas-cooled package, suited to general fabrication and site-based work. The water-cooled version pairs the same TPS 400i power source with a cooling unit and water-cooled torch and hose pack, and is the better fit for higher duty-cycle production welding, thicker material, or extended continuous runs where a gas-cooled torch would otherwise overheat. Talk to the QWS team about which cooling configuration matches your production requirements.
What's Included in This Package
The TPS 400i base unit requires a Weld Process to be added, along with a wire feed unit, drive rollers, torch and consumables to form a complete, ready-to-weld system. This package includes:
| Part Number | Item |
|---|---|
| 4.075.231 | TPS400i (requires Weld Process to be added) |
| 4.066.012 | Weld Process — Standard Synergic |
| 4.049.031 | Wire Feed Unit WF 25i 4R/G/FSC (drive rollers not included) |
| 44.0001.1407.4 | Drive roller FSR Ø1.2mm (4 off rollers) |
| 4.047.833 | Hose Pack HP 70i CON/G/1.2m |
| 43.0004.0161 | Earth Cable, 50mm² x 4m, with brass clamp |
| 4.035.933 | Torch MTG400i/FSC/3.5m/45° |
| 44.0350.5120 | Torch basic kit for steel wire (BK Fe Ø1.2/G/W/5m) |
Note: the TPS 400i base unit needs the Weld Process, wire feed unit and drive rollers added as above to form a complete, ready-to-weld package.
Why Choose the TPS 400i?
Built for heavy-duty production. With up to 400A output and a duty cycle rated for sustained industrial use, the TPS 400i is designed for demanding environments from heavy fabrication through to automotive manufacturing.
Modular by design. A separate wire feeder and expandable system architecture mean the TPS 400i can be configured and positioned to suit the workshop layout, and scaled up with additional processes or hardware options as requirements change.
Cooling to match the job. Available gas-cooled or water-cooled, so the right cooling setup can be matched to duty cycle and production demands from the outset.
Process flexibility. With Standard Synergic and Pulse Synergic available as Weld Process options, plus Syncropulse, TIG DC and manual electrode, the TPS 400i can be built out to cover a broad range of welding tasks on the one platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
What welding processes does the TPS 400i support? MIG Standard Synergic and MIG Pulse Synergic are available as Weld Process options, alongside Syncropulse, TIG DC and manual (stick/MMA) electrode.
Is the TPS 400i available water-cooled? Yes — this listing is the gas-cooled configuration, and a water-cooled version of the TPS 400i is also available for higher duty-cycle applications.
Does the TPS 400i come ready to weld out of the box? No — the base unit requires a Weld Process to be added, along with a wire feed unit and drive rollers, as set out in the package components table above.
What's the duty cycle of the TPS 400i? 40% at 400A, rising to 60% at 360A and 100% at 320A (measured over 10 minutes at 40°C ambient).
Does the TPS 400i use a built-in or separate wire feeder? A separate wire feeder — the WF 25i — is used, giving more flexibility in system layout compared to the built-in feeder on the TPS/i Compact range.
What is Syncropulse? Syncropulse is a Fronius pulse welding function that synchronises the pulse frequency with wire feed motion, improving arc stability and weld appearance during pulse-synergic MIG welding.
