FRONIUS FORTIS 400 COMPACT STANDARD PULSE

by FRONIUS
Part No: 4.075.264

FRONIUS FORTIS 400 COMPACT

Inverter Power Source with Built-In Wire Feeder

The Fronius Fortis 400 Compact steps up to 400A output while keeping the same all-in-one design as the rest of the Fortis Compact range — wire feeder and power source built into a single unit. It's built as a MIG/MAG-focused machine at its core, running standard synergic and pulse synergic MIG straight out of the box, with manual electrode and TIG DC available as optional add-ons for workshops that need broader process coverage from the one machine.

Like the rest of the Fortis series, the 400 Compact is available in both gas-cooled and water-cooled configurations, giving workshops the flexibility to match cooling type to duty cycle and production demands.

Key Features

Feature Detail
Welding processes MIG Standard Synergic, MIG Pulse Synergic (standard)
Optional processes Manual (Stick/MMA) electrode, TIG DC with Comfort Stop and gas solenoid valve
Wire feeder Integrated feeder — compact all-in-one design
Setup Weld Wizard guided parameter selection
Cooling options Gas-cooled or water-cooled
Output Up to 400A

Multiprocess Capability — Optional on the 400

Unlike the Fortis 270 and 320 Compact, where MMA and TIG come standard, the Fortis 400 Compact ships as a dedicated MIG/MAG machine, with manual electrode and TIG DC available as optional extras. This lets workshops running primarily high-output MIG/MAG production keep the machine focused on that process, while still leaving the door open to add stick and TIG capability later if the application mix changes.

When fitted, the optional TIG DC function includes Comfort Stop with a gas solenoid valve, giving clean, crater-free arc starts and stops in the same way as the rest of the Fortis range.

Why Choose the Fortis 400 Compact?

Higher output for heavier production. Stepping up to 400A, this model is built for workshops moving beyond light-to-medium fabrication into higher-output MIG/MAG production runs.

Configure it to the job. With MMA and TIG available as options rather than built in, the 400 Compact can be specified as a dedicated high-output MIG/MAG machine or configured as a broader multiprocess unit — whichever suits the workshop's application mix.

Cooling to match the duty cycle. Available gas-cooled or water-cooled, so higher duty-cycle and extended production applications can be matched with the right cooling setup from the outset.

Faster setup, fewer errors. The Weld Wizard walks operators through parameter selection instead of relying on chart lookups or guesswork, keeping setup times down and reducing rework across multi-operator or multi-job workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions

What welding processes does the Fortis 400 Compact support? MIG Standard Synergic and MIG Pulse Synergic come standard. Manual (stick/MMA) electrode and TIG DC with Comfort Stop are available as optional add-ons.

Is TIG or MMA included on the Fortis 400 Compact? No — unlike the Fortis 270 and 320 Compact, multiprocess (MMA/TIG) capability is optional on the 400 Compact rather than standard.

Is the Fortis 400 Compact available water-cooled? Yes — it's available in both gas-cooled and water-cooled configurations to suit different duty cycles and applications.

What is TIG Comfort Stop? Comfort Stop is a controlled TIG DC arc-stop function paired with a gas solenoid valve, allowing the operator to finish a weld cleanly and control post-flow gas coverage without an abrupt arc cut-off. It's included whenever the optional TIG function is fitted.

Is a separate wire feeder required? No — the wire feeder is built into the power source, making this a genuine all-in-one compact package rather than a split system.

What does the Weld Wizard do? The Weld Wizard is Fronius' guided parameter setup tool, walking the operator through material, process and wire selections to set up correct welding parameters quickly without manual chart referencing.

How does the Fortis 400 Compact compare to the 320 Compact SH? The 400 Compact offers higher output (up to 400A vs 320A) for heavier-duty MIG/MAG production, but ships as a MIG/MAG-focused machine with MMA and TIG as optional extras, whereas the 320 Compact SH includes multiprocess capability as standard.
