Castolin Eutectic EutecTor 157 Liquid Soldering Flux
Premium Stainless Steel Soldering Flux for Superior Joint Strength
Castolin Eutectic's EutecTor 157 is a highly reactive liquid flux engineered specifically for soft soldering applications on stainless steel and dissimilar metal joints. Formulated to break down the tough chromium oxide layer characteristic of stainless steel surfaces, this flux delivers exceptional wetting action, allowing filler alloys to flow evenly and bond tightly for strong, corrosion-resistant joints it is formulated to dissolve the chromium oxide layer to promote improved wetting, and is also very effective when soldering many of the copper-base alloys.
Key Features & Benefits
- Powerful Deoxidizing Action – Actively strips oxides from metal surfaces for cleaner, stronger bonds
- Excellent Wetting Performance – Promotes wetting out of the filler alloy for tight, mechanically strong joints
- Wide Working Temperature Range – Effective across an activity range of 150–450°C
- Versatile Heating Compatibility – Works with oxy-fuel torch, induction, resistance heating, and furnace soldering methods
- Easy Cleanup – Flux residues rinse away quickly with hot or cold water
- Industry Standard Compliant – Meets DIN 8511 F-SW12 specification
Ideal Applications
This flux is trusted across multiple industries for demanding soldering tasks, including:
- Food processing & dairy equipment
- Plumbing fixtures & potable water piping
- Air conditioning & refrigeration systems
- Electrical connector joining
- General engineering & fabrication
- Household appliance manufacturing
- Microtechnology and electronics assembly
Commonly used for soldering dairy utensils, food-handling equipment, plumbing fixtures, potable water containers and piping, and joining electrical connectors, EutecTor 157 is a go-to solution wherever stainless steel and copper-base alloys need to be joined reliably.
How to Use
- Thoroughly clean joint surfaces, removing all grease and oxide buildup
- Slightly round off sharp edges and corners for better flux coverage
- Apply EutecTor 157 flux generously to the entire joint area and filler rod
- Secure components in place to maintain proper gap distance
- Heat using a neutral or slightly carburizing torch flame — heat components evenly
- Once flux begins to bubble (indicating working temperature), apply filler alloy with steady heat
- Allow the assembly to cool, then remove flux residue with water and brushing as needed
